Karen Hammond is President of Hammond & Associates and brings to the position more than 25 years experience as an educator and learning and development specialist. At ease on the shop floor and in the executive boardroom, Karen’s skills as a researcher, writer, project manager and facilitator have taken her into a broad range of work contexts, ranging from construction sites to refineries and five star hotels to meat processing plants. Karen’s broad expertise includes:

• Competency models and occupational analysis
• Facilitation, instructional design, development and delivery
• English as a Second Language and intercultural skills analysis
• CLB benchmarking - analyzing the language demands of occupations
• Workplace- and sector-based research
• Plain language audits and document design
• Writing for diverse audiences, varied genres and complex subject matter
• Facilitation of multi-stakeholder groups (government, industry, labour)

Much of Karen’s work has been at the provincial or national level, leading projects that analyze learning and development challenges and opportunities for entire sectors or occupational classifications.

Karen’s educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Education degree, a Diploma of Education in Curriculum and Instruction specializing in English as a Second Language and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, where her master’s project focused on intercultural training.
